Sometimes called a French butter crock or a Butter Keeper, this useful container keeps butter cold, fresh, and soft on the counter. Just fill the top with real butter (about two sticks), fill the bottom with cold water, and put the butter-filled lid back in the water-filled jar. Butter stays soft and spreadable for about a month. Change with fresh cold water every few days.
